Due Date Unknown began as a byproduct of infertility.
Not the medical process itself — but the experience of living alongside it, especially from the position of the partner.
This site exists to document what infertility exposes when outcomes are uncertain and effort stops guaranteeing results. It focuses less on what happens medically and more on what happens relationally and internally — particularly for the person expected to stay steady while someone else carries the visible burden.
The writing here comes from lived experience:
- repeated cycles with no clear progress
- long stretches of waiting without information
- clinics designed for one person, not two
- decisions that don’t feel like choices
- relationships that don’t break, but narrow under pressure
The intent is not to universalize infertility or turn it into metaphor. The specificity is deliberate. Any broader relevance emerges because the dynamics are accurate — not because they are generalized.
Some readers come here because they are living through infertility themselves.
Others arrive because someone close to them is — and they are trying to understand what that experience actually feels like, beyond the surface.
This site isn’t designed to reassure, advise, or resolve.
It exists to name things clearly — especially the parts that are rarely spoken out loud.
